FAQ
Yes, folks. There have been questions, and questions have a way of demanding answers. The West County Wire realizes you have many blog choices on the interweb and we thank you for choosing us!

  1. West County Wire is such a great name! What does it mean?
    1. “Wire” is a term of art, harking back to the golden age of telegraph, that refers to a news delivery service. When something happens, the story is sent “over the wire” to be picked up by local papers. The Associated Press, for example, is a wire service, just like me! (I know, pretty cool, huh?) My beat is the meetings of quasi-public agencies in Camp Meeker, Occidental, Bodega and Bodega Bay, and they keep me plenty busy. These towns are all in western Sonoma County. Hence, West County Wire: keeping you abreast of the best in the west.
  2. Will you be coming to our monthly meeting at nonprofit XYZ?
    1. Not necessarily, because they do not fall under the heading quasi-public. I will, however, from time to time report on the meetings of non-profits that rely on public moneys. I would also like to have a page on this blog for local non-profits to post agendas and minutes of their meetings. This site is a work in progress, so keep your eyes peeled.
  3. You say you’re busy, yet I can’t help but notice you don’t post very often. What’s up with that?
    1. Well, there’s busy and then there’s busy ;-). Keeping tabs on all the towns on my list involves at least 8 monthly meetings. Most of them are held on the second and third weeks of the month, making the other weeks light on news. And this is a wire service—I only post news as it happens. (Unlike most bloggers. c: jk!) But I also have a life outside of all of this. Or I try to, anyway.
  4. Okay, but why do I have to wait for several days after the meeting to learn what happened? Aren’t wires supposed to be fast?
    1. First off, did I mention the West County part? Second, this is just a hobby for me, not a career. I’m doing the best I can and I apologize if it doesn’t satisfy. There is the obvious expedient—head on down to the meeting yourself. They’ll be pleasantly surprised to see you!
  5. The thing is that I tend to check your blog every day, and I get disappointed if there is nothing new. And eventually, I might just stop checking.
    1. You check my blog every day? You rock! I love you! And I wish I could fulfill your wish for daily updates, but that dog just won’t hunt. Instead, may I humbly suggest two alternatives: you can “Follow” the blog, which involves signing up with Google. (But you should sign up with Google anyway. They’re cool, plus they host the blog for free.) The other option is my West County Wire Facebook page where you can become a fan. I will post to that page whenever the blog updates, so you don't even need to check. Technology!
